Wells

Just 2 miles away, Wells is the smallest city in England, famed for its cathedral and architectural heritage. A visit to the cathedral to see the 13th century sculptures on the west front, and the astronomical clock dating back to the 1390's which features jousting knights every 15 minutes, is a must.

Wookey Hole

Well worth a visit, with its series of breathtaking, natural chambers carved deep inside the Mendip hills by the River Axe. Beware, keep an eye open for the famous 'Witch of Wookey Hole'! Other attractions include the Paper Mill and the Historic Fairground collection.


Mystical Glastonbury

Glastonbury, approximately 6 miles away, is a town with its own unique atmosphere. Steeped in fascinating legends, the town has a variety of shops specialising in alternative beliefs, books and objets d'art.

Dominated by the Tor and the Abbey, Glastonbury is in legend the place where Joseph of Arimathea buried the Holy Grail. The Abbey with its intriguing history is also the legendary burial place of King Arthur and Queen Guinevere.


Clarks Village (approximately 8 miles away)

This is a "must" for all shopaholics. A village of factory outlets offering everything from fashion to food, and paintings to porcelain.


Cheddar (approx. 6 miles)

Probably Somerset's most widely known tourist attraction and famed for the Gorge, Caves and the cheese.

The stately home and wildlife park of Longleat. The seaside resort of Weston super Mare, the cultural heritage of the West's two leading cities Bristol and Bath.

Golf - Four excellent and challenging 18 hole golf courses within 10 miles. Wells, Mendip, Wedmore and Farrington Gurney (which also has a 9-hole par 3 course).

Fishing - Chew Valley and Blagdon Lakes (10-12 miles) offer some of the best fly fishing sport in the country.

Shooting - Clay Pigeon, Archery and quad biking etc at Mendip Shooting Ground (5 miles).

Horse Riding - Two excellent riding schools in the locality offer facilities for both novice and the more skilled rider.

Leisure Centre - 2 miles away for those who like to swim and keep trim. Outdoor pool available 6 miles away in Street.
